Laurie you are right with aldosterone lowering at night. I have been taking the florinef twice a day, closer to bedtime. It is definitely running out in the middle of the night. Just last night, I had one of my usual routine of waking up sweating, having to strip down (sorry if it's TMI) and basically just sit there without covers to cool my body down. Dr. L knows about these night sweats/heat attacks and told me to let him know if they get better.
I will say one thing though! We took a walk tonight and I feel incredible! We even went to a few stores afterward and I'm not tired. This really is awesome. I wasn't expecting to feel this good so fast, but I don't want to get too optimistic. I'm sure it will take some more trial and error with the dosage.

Are you taking a dose of cortisol (say 2.5mg) just as your head hits the pillow? If not, the sweating can also be(I might be wrong/trial and error) related to night time low cortisol. Your cortisol drops, you become hypoglycemic. You wake up sweaty, panicked, palps, difficulty falling back to sleep.
That's so wonderful!! Amazing. Laurie

Yes I took some HC just before bed and my sleep was absolutely terrible last night. It was the usual sweating (like drenching), thirsty and hot. I don't get the heart palps at night. Then I woke up with hives and itchiness that I thought I put behind me months ago. I guess not... So I had to take a zyrtec today, but it still hasn't kicked in. Once these itching attacks start, anything that rubs my skin, those spots become itchy too. At my worst, I can draw my name on my skin and it becomes puffy and itchy.
Because of that sometimes I have to strip down to avoid any pressure from my bra straps or pants. Let's hope it doesn't get to that point today.
I'm pretty frustrated today.

HC is either a godsend at bedtime, or not. That's why I suggested trying it on a weekend when you could better afford a sleepless night.
For you, the HC could have made your low aldo symptoms worse. Given that aldo normally is at it's lowest at night, plus the HC which suppresses your ACTH.
If I were a betting person, I'm certain that you will need more florinef. Possibly more at night.
The frustration is normal. Good days and not so good ones. The good days will outnumber the others. It's a process.

Well I had a mini adrenal crisis today. /sigh Even stress dosing didn't make going to court any easier and I completely lost it just as the arbitration was about to begin.
I began to shake uncontrollably, hyperventilate and went from being hot to cold all in a matter of seconds. My husband said that my lips, hands and face were pale and turning blue and I was staring at the ceiling making bubbles with my lips! LOL He said I was not responding to him and that my pupils were dilated. He was about 15 seconds away from calling 9-11 when I finally heard him and said that I could hear him.
I have contacted the doctor and am shopping for a medic alert bracelet right now. If my husband hadn't been there, I think I would have died. I told him yesterday what to look for in adrenal crisis. I had him read over a few websites and he acted accordingly. Thank God!
Now I'm just trying to pick up the pieces. I feel like crap and don't know what I should do. I have contacted the doctor about what happened. I'm just glad that I am OK.

Hi Dana, That sounds like you're aldosterone deficient, but I've just noticed you take florinef!!! Perhaps you're an hyperexcreter

I'm not sure Ruth. I will say that I was extremely thirsty and still am. I cannot quench my thirst no matter how much water I drink. I'm feeling really wiped out right now and have a ripping headache.

How much florinef are you taking? HC can have florinef effects as well. Perhaps your potassium has gone too low.
