Have anyone ever heard of or tried Dr. Hotze at www.drhotze.com, I called and they sent me a free DVD movie about hormones and thyroid and a few free books, called "They Thyroid and Hormone Connection" - they are amazing, this doctor gets it, and he used the Yeast Connection book and the Safe uses of cortisol book to treat his patients. I am just amazed, but he is very expensive, that is the downfall. Mia

I live 2 streets over from Dr. Hotze's office and I don't recommend him. First of all he is way to expensive for his program, 2nd he gives cookie cutter therapies. Same basic program for everyone. He has become popular with his weekly radio show and apperances on network tv.

I have talked to several women online that went to see him and they are both on different treatments though. So I am not sure that he uses the cookie cutter approach. I think that most who come to see him have very similar problems though, it's hormones. I would really love to go see him, although he doesn't practice anymore, he now has other doctors who do his work for him that I have heard are just as good though. But at least he gets it, not many doctors out there know about the adrenal problems that many of us suffer from. So for that I commend him greatly!

Yeah, he does get it compared to the vast majority of dr's who don't. I visited his office not to long ago searching for answers. I was all excited he might have all the answers. I was kinda bummed on how he undermedicates the adrenals. 5-7mg HC was not enough for me. I bumped into his former VP of marketing at a local compounding pharmacy and she felt the same about his approach. I found another local dr. who as really been impressive treating Adrenal issures and not as expensive. Also, if you are in VA, the Dr. in PA might be closer and better. I saw some good reports on RTH about him. Good luck. Greg

I agree he sounds impressive & his website & info does read well too.
I believe he does "get it" to a point but NOT completely.
From what feedback I have read he seems to think ALL Adrenal Fatigue/Insufficiency can be healed no matter how severe. And he thinks this can be done with little or no steroids & lots of detox/vits /supps.
While he earns some points in recognising that AI existes he looses LOTS with his lack of understanding in how to properly treat AI.
And even worse he doesnt seem to acknowledge or recognise that SECONDARY AI even exists. If he did he would know that "healing" Adrenals wont help them. They have a Pituitary problem NOT an Adrenal problem.
In any case I dont see how anything he does or his clinic offers is worth the extraordinary & exhorbitant fees he charges.
The last leads me to the judgement that he is in this predominantly for the money. And not just to make a reasonable living but to really take advantage & rip people off. Unfortunately many in the "holistic/alternative" areas of medicine are only in it for this too. He is not the only one. But it doesnt make me inclined to recommend anyone seek him or his clinic out.
Surely you would be better off using the $3000-4000 he charges paying for all the tests you need yourself then travelling to a Doc that gets it all?

Hi there, I already talked to you on RTH but wanted to add a couple of things.
One, he they are a bit shy of using hc.....but my mom was on 27-30mg hc perday and though the Dr said (that is a bit high) since she was doing well he let her stay on it.
two, they don't really address low aldosterone..........my mom's test was low and they didnt' touch it. i just posted on the adrenal forum about her.......needing salt throughout the day or she dosen't sleep wich leads me to realize that she really does need the florinef, she will try to convice the dr to give it to her........
but like I said she is happy with them and her results thus far. if you have any more questions......you know where to find me.

They do use real cortisol to treat their patients, I spoke on the telephone with a consultant who works for Dr. Hotze and she is taking HC for her adrenals. So they are not "anti-HC" at all, I think they are hesitant to treat everyone the same way, some need it and some don't. As for Aldosterone, that is upsetting what Barbie said, because I now my aldosterone is very low, although I have not had a test, I have every symptom of low aldosterone and I have for many years. So that part would make me hesitant now to go there, since $3000 is not chump change and it would put me into credit card debt as well! But I will say this, Lethal Lee is right, they do somewhat "get it" - they are better than most doctors out there who are absolutely clueless! And they are always open to patient suggestions for sure! They listen to the patent and what the patient wants. But I also think that Dr. Hotze's clinic has some more research to do to get the exact science down on this one. I like to call what I have "Endocrine Chaos" so when they can treat the whole picture, then they will be successful with this. As for myself, I have decided to use a local doctor here in VA that I just found out about yesterday. He is a natural doctor and he might not "get it" fully, but his website clearly says that he treats adrenal fatigue so that is a start. I will let you all know how my appt goes later this week. Thanks for all the input! I'm still very sick, but at least I have hope now and that keeps me going everyday. Mia

Just wanted to update what I posted earlier. My mom called her Dr and he gave her a trial of florinef......1 tab for a month to see if it helps her. So they are willing to listen and give your ideas a try..........mom was having to take 3 tsp salt daily to sleep well, it was really effecting her sleep. She just started the florinef...(not the whole tab at once, dont' worry!) so.....I just wanted to let you know that they are willing to listen and try ....
