Hi, Lee,
Yes, the chest/back pain is similar to what it has been off and on for a year or so. It ONLY happens at night and ONLY when my BP shoots up, so I don't think it's related to the DDD. My back/neck/legs hurt in different places all of the time from the disc problem, and I have the constant lower left flank pain which I still believe is from the adrenal cyst, even tho the doc says I'm nuts.
I have gone to the ER because of the BP probably five or six times in the past 12 months. They simply run an EKG, blood work, whatever, keep me there til the BP starts to go down and then send me on my way. One time my diastolic had actually starting increasing again, the nurse called it to the doc's attention, and he sent me home anyway. At this point, I am only taking clonidine 0.1 mg, and am to take an additional one two hours later if my BP does not go down. It severely knocks me out but does reduce the BP for awhile! I have been on BP meds for years, the latest was Benicar for over 10 years. I stopped that one because it was starting to have ill effects (no BP control), including dropping my renin and aldosterone even further. The nephrologist has been no help; only wants me to take diuretics that cause BAD muscle cramps. I will make another appt with a cardiologist, I guess, to see what they say. My diastolic is consistently high, just a little bit lower during the day; the systolic averages in the high 130's-low 140's during the day and close to 200 at night, almost every night.
I have a BP monitor that has a memory function, and even with showing the docs my daytime readings as opposed to my nighttime ones, they still don't act like they believe me. I requested a 24-hour monitor to prove it to them and got no where. So, I guess a new doctor is in the works all the way around, lol!
Thanks again,
Barbara
PS get some sleep, lol!
