Through trial and error, I have discovered that Potassium gets rid of my (severe) edema and leg cramping at night. I knew about the leg cramping but the edema caught me by surprise.
I went off the Fludocortisone (Florinef) and after about a week, the edema in my legs and feet came back. So, I started to eat lots of fruits. Grapes were the best, bananas and lemon in my water. They say to drink an 8 oz. glass of water with fresh squeezed lemon in the morning on an empty stomach to stimulate the liver.
The Florinef did take away my edema, but natural methods are obviously better. I was also taking Potassium supplements. They only come in 99 mg. doses, so I was taking 2 a day. That isn't enough so I started eating more fruits and the change was miraculous.
Addendum:
PS: Forgot the most important information. You know that pain some of us get from our adrenals or near that area? That pain that keeps me from laying on my side? The fruits take that pain away, too. I can lay on my side when I get enough potassium.
I'm no doctor and am just trying to share my experiences of trial and error.
Another good bit of information I would recommend is to read Suzanne Somer's book, "Breakthrough" and others. It talks a lot about hormones, including sex hormones and many other subjects for good health. It lists many doctors around the country and world who are experts in testing hormones, nutritional deficiencies, viruses, heavy metals, etc.

Hi,
That's great news for you. Some have learned that one symptom of low potassium(aside from muscle cramps and abdominal bloating) is fluid retention.
The thing to be careful of is that potassium acts opposite of sodium. If you take too much potassium, it's possible to lower sodium too much.
Have you had your sodium and potassium levels tested since getting off florinef and optimizing your potassium intake?

Hey Lucy,
That's great. I also stopped Florinef as I seem to be OK on HC and sea salt (apart from excessive urination which might actually be low ADH). I wanted to get off it because of the fluoride content and I feel like I'm taking enough as it is.
What were your aldo levels in the first place? Curious to see what they were.
cheers Allison
