I recently posted in the adrenal forum, but I think this issue qualifies as more thyroid.
In a nutshell, I am pregnant, went off Armour for a while due to hyper symptoms and okay labs. Now I have to go back on due to falling free T3 and free T4. They are still in the normal range, but pretty low.
My problem is that I am not tolerating the Armour at all. I started with 1/4 grain and got all the symptoms - fast pulse, anxiety, couldn't sleep. My temp came up, though, and the muscle cramps stopped. I took a couple of days off, then went to 1/8 grain. Still getting the symptoms. I am very sensitive to thyroid meds - even working up slowly, I've only been able to take 3/4 grain - that got my frees up and got rid of my hypo symptoms.
I've had my electrolytes tested and needed more magnesium, sodium and potassium. That seems to be straightened out. Ferritin, folic acid, B12 are also fine.
I am very sensitive to everything - vitamins, thyroid meds, bio-identical hormones, etc. It only takes a little bit to make a difference.
That's true for everything except hydrocortisone. I seem to need a lot of it. I am currently taking 37.5 mg spread through the day and night. Is it really possible that I need more than that to tolerate 1/8 grain thyroid??? That seems so incredible.
My blood sugar and blood pressure are fine on this dose, but I am afraid to go too high and give myself gestational diabetes or something worse. I went too high (42.5 - 50 mg) over the summer trying to tolerate higher levels of thyroid and started getting high blood sugar and skin tags. This was at my doctor's suggestion, but I didn't feel good on such a high dose. Before I got pregnant, I was doing well on 27.5 mg.
Thanks for any opinions or experience anyone can offer.
