HI Gina,
Yes Docs are great at saying things like that. Unfortunately everything to them means what THEY think is necessary & NOT what is needed for proper evaluation.
I would seriously follow it up at time of test make sure they are aware of it & that it is being handled correctly. When my boys had theirs it WAS marked but the lab stuffed up the samples so it couldnt be done.
Fortunately I had had ACTH tested previously so we used that.
Was just concerned for your DH that IF they stuff it up or dont do it, it means longer off the Adrenal meds & he is already feeling poorly from being off them.
Hope all goes well.

Well, we went to do the test this morning. What a nightmare. We got to Quest at 8:10 this morning. They didn't get him in until 9! Then, he had to go to the docs office and wait until 9:55 to get his Cortrosyn shot! I was so mad! I told my husband that it's not going to be right because of them taking soooooo long! He did it anyway. Hopefully it shows something so it won't be for naught! The Cortrosyn was $150 just by itself!
I'm going to just try to roll with it and hope that it's ok. Can't do anything else at this point. :-)
Thanks!

Got test results back. I can't wait to see what you think!
ACTH AM 24 (7-50) Cortisol AM 16.1 (4-22) FSH 2.3 (1.6-8) Prolactin 9.6 (2-18) TSH 1.57 (.4-4.5) Aldosterone 5 (< or = 28) Cortisol AM 24.3 (2-22) I assume this one is after the stim, which was 30 minutes (no 60 minute draw)
So what does this mean? Gina

I say start the stim by 10 am at the latest, but as early as possible. His stim is not worth much. 95 percent of people take the full 60 minutes to double, so he may have gone up to the 30s if was done right. Very expensive test to do just half way. His ACTH is very low, so I am very comfortable in telling you that looks like secondary AI. I see healthy acth being upper 40s to low 50s.
His FSH being low suggests his LH is low. Need to test LH. Prolactin don't really look at unless is rock bottom. If he fasting salt, his aldosterone is in the tank. If didn't fast, needs to be redone with renin. I'm betting his renin will be low which is what happens in secondary AI. Get him DHEA-s, TSH, frees, tpo and tga, igf-1 and GH.

It was started at 9:55! So it's all for nothing because they didn't do it for 60 mins?
He was fasting for the stim, and salt fasting for the other.
We did all the other labs a few months ago.

If were me, I wouldn't pay for the test.
