I haven't had my growth hormone tested yet, I plan on having that be my next test. But I have a feeling it is low. If this is the case, my insurance only covers 60% of the cost, which means I will not be able to afford the injections. So, has anyone tried or had any experience with the over the counter IGF-1 supplements? I've seen some that are sprays you administer under the tongue. I'm just wondering if this is something I need, is there a more affordable way of getting it. Also, I am currently taking 40 mgs of HC, and am thinking of switching to Medrol, could someone pm me info on where to get that online? Thanks so much.

It depends on whether it's due to hypopituitarism or old age. If it's the latter then there's sermorelin - but I'm not sure how much it costs. Proteins in general stimulate GH. One protein component arginine (an amino acid) works well. You can also get amino acid mixes that are often dubbed GH boosters. Melatonin - taken at night time - stimulates GH. You can also try googling 'growth hormone secretagogue', which is a term used to describe anything that induces GH secretion. Here's a good overview www.smartbomb.com/roloforgrowh.htmlDHEA apparently lowers GH requirements in hypopits, but HGH replacement is the only way to go. You can try the above, but they just don't work well at all. Don't deal with anything, unless it's injectable, that claims to be GH or IGF-1... it gets destroyed in the gut before it reaches the bloodstream. I hope this helps .

I have a pituitary tumor, so it's not low (if it is low) due to age, I'm 37. If it comes back low, maybe I will try melatonin and some of the protein compounds you mentioned, just to see if that helps.
Thanks.

I'm thinking about trying the secretagogues but not sure whether it will work or not (but it's worth a shot). I did read it's important to cycle them so that you avoid becoming resistant: www.futurescience.com/hgh.html

Allison, Yes, I really think it is worth a shot. I highly suspect that you're GH deficient or the feedback is wonkie. They're still expensive but nothing like HGH .

yeah i know, there's no way i can afford GH replacement at the moment. i'm researching now for a secretagogue mix. i just got that cheapo Hertoghe book by the way and it has secretagogue info in there. i'm looking at it and it doesn't look THAT expensive to buy the aminos on iHerb.
also, you'd be interested to know, there are about 20 pages just of references in this book. have you bought this one? (the cheap one)
btw i need to PM you and Cat about a horrible endo who called me yesterday....nightmare!
