Hi Dana, I have heard a lot of good things about HCG but don't know much about it. I would ask at RTH like Allison suggested and perhaps try: www.musclechatroom.com/forum/index.phpMaybe you can tell us more about it when you get the low down . Cheers

His 2nd set of labs are back and my first ones aren't even back! These labs were done around 2PM. The doc wanted to see what his testosterone and cortisol was doing in the mid afternoon. Iron Bind.Cap. (TIBC) 321--(250-450) UIBC 215--(150-375) Iron, Serum 106--(40-155) Iron Saturation 33--(15-55) Testosterone, Serum 371--(241-827) Free Testosterone (Direct) 11.1--(9.3-26.5) Dihydrotestosterone 43--(30-85) SHBG, Serum 24--(13-71) LH 2.4--(1.5-9.3) FSH 1.8--(1.4-18.1) Estradiol 42--(<54) Prostate-Specific AG, Serum 0.8--(0.0-4.0) ACTH, Plasma 26--(6-48) Cortisol 19--(3.1-16.7) HIGHProlactin 6.3--(2.1-17.7) Looks like pituitary to me. After all this he's the one with the pituitary problems not me! HAHA That's pretty hilarious.

Dana, Not sure what to make of ACTH tested in afternoon. Morning ACTH should be upper 1/3 of range so as to generate enough cortisol first thing in the morning. The fact that healthy cortisol pattern...it gradually decreases throughout the day. The same probably holds true for ACTH. I'd ask Dr. L what he thinks of that ACTH level for afternoon. It might be OK. I'd not be too upset with afternoon cortisol. IF your husband had any stress while driving, drank caffeine,exercised,work/home/emotional stress,smoked....would have raise the level. His LH/FSH and low testosterone really look like hypopit/secondary hypogonadism. I would keep tabs on his Estradiol. You don't want that to increase. This can cause a problem. There are ways to lower this. Have you been to www.Realthyroidhelp.com? Barbie is the moderator on men's forum. Her husband(Grant) hasissues with secondary hypogonadism. He takes HCG. Barbie is away for a few weeks. Phil has excellent stickies on mens issues, hormones and what to monitor. I'm glad that you and your husband went to see with Dr.L. Here's to your health! Laurie

Hi Laurie!
Yes Dr. L has said that my husband is secondary hypogonadism. He is trying something new with my husband to see how it works since my husband is so young (will be 30 in 2 months). He is using the guidelines set by some doctor he found on the internet. I believe the doctor runs the website (musclechatroom), that Ruth suggested to take a look at!
My husband will be using androgel and hcg injections twice a week. This is to hopefully bring his levels up without the testes from shrinking. Dr. L was really confused by the ACTH and cortisol levels. He said for a 2PM draw, that the ACTH was actually a bit high and that cortisol was way too high. Once my husband is stable on the testosterone/hcg injections, it looks like the doc will order another saliva test (our insurance covered it through labcorp!!!) and not to worry about the cortisol for now.
His meds showed up today in the mail and he will be starting the injections in a few days!
We are both really excited to get our health in order. I'll reply about my health on my own thread, so it doesn't get too confusing. :-)
