My sisters Stim results: Baseline ACTH 23 Baseline cortisol 14.2 30 minutes 28.2 60 minutes 28.1
Chris mentioned that he's never seen anyone stay the same from 30-60 minutes. I don't know if that's good or bad.
So, my quesiton.....do results say anything about how much HC someone would be needing.
She started right at 20 a day. I was very worried that she would crash when taking a little HC and shutting down her already low ACTH so we took a chance. So, within 2 or 3 days she was already feeling a little better. Was able to get up in the morning and said she really noticed a difference. On day 5 (yesterday) I could see that she was dragging again. Couldn't get out of bed in the morning. She going to 25 today (day 6). I hope that's not a mistake. I know Chris doesn't go by temps only by how someone feels so I thought it might be okay, especially since she's secondary. Also, on a side note, her temps have been normal or above and she always feels hot (low aldosterone) so it's difficult to use temps.
I'm thinking that after the 25 HC raise she should hold for a while and then retest aldosterone etc before starting Florinef.
Any thoughts? Thanks much.

You can't tell by tests how much or what kind of steroid will be needed. The 20 mg suppressed her natural cortisol, so her net cortisol is back to where it was before HC (see sticky "My explanation of how thyroid meds suppress the thyroid" words the same for cortisol). I"m sure 25 mg will help keeping in mind she may need 30 mg later. She should not start Armour until sure that she can get by with HC and the dose is proper.
You're welcome, Chris

Thanks Chris. Yes, will NOT start Armour until HC is in place and I assume until Florinef is in place? Can one do Florinef and thyroid at the same time or wait until florinef is good then thyroids?

I like to florinef done first (if salt alone isn't enough) if it's needed.
You're welcome, Chris
