Check your BP and pulse lying down. Then sit up and take it once along with your pulse, wait 3-5 mn and take BP and pulse again. If the highest it goes when you are "hyper" is 105/68 you are pretty darn low - the 85/56 is pretty indicative of poor stress response. Becky

I will try that tonight. I got a different cuff so I will see if that makes a difference. Thanks for the tip! I go to see the Physicians Assistant tomorrow. Hopefully this goes better that the appointment with the endo. I was thinking on our drive today about how my symptoms are worse at certain times and not that bad at others. It seems like it goes with my monthly cycle. Is that possible? That when my body isn't trying to do anything it is fine and then when my hormones try and surge for ovulation it send everything out of wack until the let down for the start of my period??

Hey there, Yes I definitely think some symptoms worsen/improve depending on our cycle. Without a doubt it affects everything. Do you take any progesterone?

Thanks Rebecca!! You took the words out of my mouth! I think Sally is onto something!! I would always hit the wall the first few days of my cycle/onset of menses. The drop in progesterone was enough to further drop my cortisol and my aldosterone. I would also get migraines at this time due to low aldo. My clue was only salt water relieved the headache. I'm now taking 100mg sublingual progest days 1-13 and 200mg days 14-28. I'll let everyone know how things work out in about a week. Laurie

Well, I have great news! I finally after a whole year of dealing with doctors, found a physicians assistant to listen to me, believe me and perscribe hydrocrt. It was so nice to discuss all the things that I had learned her with a medical professional and actually have them agree with me! She also gave a prescription for biodentical progesterone to get my periods back on track but wants me to start with the hydrocort first. She wouldn't diagnose it as hypopit but definately said I had adrenal insufficiency. She said she wasn't going to rule out the possibility, but said she would see how my other hormones responded to the hydrocort. I am excited but also scared because she said she didn't know if it will be something that I have to take for the rest of my life or just until my adrenal glands kick back in. I know that if it is my pituitary that I will have to take it for the rest of my life right? Anyway, any pointers on getting started on the hydrocort, anything I should be careful of? How long do you think I should wait to start the progesterone? And what about the armour that I have had forever, when should I start that? I am sure there is a sticky somewhere can you direct me to that? Thanks so much!

Started taking Hydrocort on Thursday. I was breaking the pills in half thinking they were 5mg so I was doing the 2.5mg (following the STTM guidelines) but they were actually 10mg so I was doing 5mg - I know I should have read the bottle but I was so excited to get it and get going. So I just started dosing twice a day yesterday (now on 10 mg total) Should I leave it or go back down and then go back up?
I want to make sure I do this right on the small chance that it might really just be my adrenals and I won't have to be on hydrocort the rest of my life.
Also, I was reading about DHEA and what it was supposed to be if your ACTH was low. I don't think that my DHEA levels follow that, so I am wondering what that means?
The other thing I was wondering about was b-12 shots. The nurse said I could get those if I wanted them to help with adrenal support (would that also help my ferritin levels)
Like I said I just want to get this right!
Thanks for your help

That's wonderful news!! Slow down a bit. You don't want a thyroid dump. Let your body get used to it and follow the guideline as best you can. I'll be back tomorrow. I need to go to bed.

Thanks Laurie,
I was modifying my post with a few other questions when you answered the first part. When you get a chance, let me know what you think about the rest. I plan to do the 5mg in the a.m. and then 2.5 at noon for a few days. Let me know if you think I should slow it down further!
I think it is wonderful news also :-)
Get some rest!
