Hi there I just saw my GP today and asked about some testing for autoimmune diseases due to my already having 2 of them. She said whilst I was on suppressants like HC they wouldn't show? I would imagine they would still be there, however all the tests the other GP ran came back negative, could it have been because I am on 30mg of HC?
lotsa luv Dawnx

Hi Dawn,
I've been asked similar questions before like testing for Allergies (IgA, IgE, IgM etc). One member was told to go OFF all Adrenal meds in order to do testing. Needless to say I told her to do so was both dangerous & unnecessary.
It is true that steroids can have immune lowering, anti-inflammatory, allergy lowering affects. However when used for this purpose it is doesed in HIGH pharmacological doses. Generally the synthetic longer lasting steroids are used for this purpose.
But when using steroids (whether HC or one of the synthetics) in physiogical replacement doses as we are doing I do NOT beleive this is the case.
That said it is certainly true that a body under stress from low Cortisol, low Thyroid, nutritional deficiencies & so on WILL certainly over time develop many problems, illnesses & conditions. That is why when adequate HRT is given many of those conditions dramatically improve or even disappear. Often we see this happens with food allergies, chemical sensitivity, Asthma, Fibro, headaches, Migraines, and many more!
Certainly we always recommend that Thyroid Antibodies be tested. If they are positive (even if in range) we also strongly recommend Celiac testing & Adrenal Antibodies (Adrenal Cortex Abs & 21-HO Abs) testing too.
So be careful with HC & Armour as you may be in danger of getting well, healthy & happy ;D
So if you have symptoms & you want to rule out certain things please go ahead & get testing whether it is Antibody or allergy type tests. And please stay on your Adrenal meds.
Logically how could it be...when all we are doing is bringing levels to where they SHOULD be amd are in a healthy person.

Thanks Lee I didn't think it would totally get rid of the autoimmune markers otherwise it would 'cure' the diseases whilst on HC, or one would think so anyway. The reason I want testing is I have been having some wierd stuff happening like facial numbness, confustion, anginalike attack and other things that don't actually 'fit' thryoid disease, or at least I don't think they do. My sticky blood and my sugar intollerance also needed doing so I was wondering about my pancreas also. Anyway she is going to run some tests, no idea what but I will see eventually what she has run and if they uncover anything. I know the Armour and the HC are helping some things because I started to have menses again and I had stopped for a long time so something is balancing there eh? Postmenopausal my eye lol. lotsa luv Dawnx
