Hi all,
I recently had a sleep study done and I think I am going to be DX'd with sleep apnea or hyponea (shallow breath) it is enough that it was lowering the oxygen in my blood at night. I have high RT3 versus my T3 (41 limit 31) T3:333. According to at least one doc I am hypoT technically because I'm not getting any T3 in my cells. Can hypoT cause central sleep apnea? (this is the type caused by neurological and brain problems) I have heard it can cause obstructive sleep apnea but I do not have this type it appears. Any ideas?
Thanks

Hi there, Sleep apnea may be due to hypoT and/or low GH. Low GH is one factor that causes high RT3. I am not sure about the different types of SA. To asses GH deficiency, I would recommend the following labs: - GH - IGF1 - IGF1-BP3 - 24 h urine GH I would also get the following drawn at the same time: - insulin - glucose - lipid profile These should be drawn fasting and early in the morning. Cheers
