Hi everyone, I come in peace from the RTH . Or should I say pieces? I posted the following this morning, and 1WearyChick gave me the heads up for this forum. Thanks for reading.
Here is my bloodwork labs for my sex hormones that I had done in Nov 08 (testosterone wasn't tested for some reason, eventhough it was on the requisition). Any comments would be appreciated.
Progesterone 4.70 (luteal 8.0 - 89.0)
Estradiol 731.5 (120 - 740)
DHEAS 1.98 (0.95 - 11.67 umol/L)
FSH 23.2 (2.0 - 8.0 IU/L)
LH 56.30 (0.0 - 11.0 IU/L)
I also had DHEAS tested when I had my saliva test done, and that figure was:
2.9 (3.0 - 11.0)
So, my progesterone is very low, and the DHEAS, too. I haven't been sure on what to do about that, but since I believe I'm having problems with absorbing my FT3 into my tissues, I think along with low ferritin, and possibly some adrenal issues, the low progesterone and DHEAS are contributing to that.
My first thought was to get on progesterone cream, maybe; but I've been reluctant since some of you seem to have problems with it. I was going to discuss it with the naturopath when I go next week. But, I was just reading something yesterday, after searching the internet for 'best progesterone creams'. I found an interesting article that said we should fix our adrenals, and the other hormones will naturally go back balance. And it advised against progesterone cream because it just builds up in the fat tissue, and eventually the other hormones get out of balance because of too high progesterone (something like that). So, the author of the article recommended getting the adrenals working by supplementing with DHEA (if DHEA is low), and that will recalibrate the brain into producing other hormones again. Which sounds like this could be my new plan (since I'm totally avoiding going the cortisol route and would like to try 'natural' - hope this doesn't turn you guys off, but it's just the route I want to take at this time with my health). But, I've heard some of you guys have problems with supplementing DHEA, too...
I'll attach the link, and see what you guys think. Or any other suggestions would be very appreciated.
