My doctor ordered this test: IGF-1 66 (109-284) Is it safe to say that GH is low? Everything else is....

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's likely a duck.
Boy, your doc sure must be learning a lot. If the sample is less than a week old, your doc might be able to have the lab run a growth hormone level. Most labs keep samples for a week before they destroy.
Looks like stim testing is next. Are you optimized on cortef and armour?

Hi Laurie, quack, quack
No, I'm not optimized. Why do I want a stim test?
How does my results compare to others? Thanks

Optimizing thyroid and cortisol can result in improved IGF-1/GH levels. Stim testing to prove to the insurance companies that you are growth hormone deficient and justify them paying for treatment. It also helps to have other documented pituitary deficiencies with this process. Again, really need to be optimized with thyroid and cortisol first. My IGF-1 was 150 pre cortef. It remained 150 after cortef. I had IGF-1 in September **right after intervening with suicidal brother-major stress dosing and my IGF-1 was 180** however my growth hormone level was 0.9 (0-6). Chris had mentioned that he's seen low IGF-1's with acceptable growth hormone levels. He's seen "acceptable " IGF-1 with low GH levels. Have you done any reading on Adult Growth Hormone Deficiency Syndrome? Does anything sound like you? Quack, Laurie

Well, it's hard to say if my symptoms match with low GH, everything overlaps and I'm not sure what being well even feels like.
No insurance, so no problems there.
Yes, if I ever get thyroid hormones to healthy levels, I'll re-check IGF. I would be impressed if I was able to get my level up from 66 to 300 with optimal thyroid levels. I've been on HC or medrol for almost a year now... Thanks Laurie.
