Well if it isn't necessary to wait another month, then I will get all of this done. Waiting another month pushes back seeing the doc in PA until mid April.
I haven't done the morning ACTH, cortisol or aldo/renin yet. That is coming up in ~2 weeks on day 3 of my cycle. I broke the tests up like this to make it easier for my doctor to order. He was hesitant to even order them all, but I told him the doctor I was seeing requires it. (which is partly true haha) So he went ahead. The doc in PA requires a lot of what you told me to get, but certainly not all of them!
I'm also going to get a repeat of all thyroid labs just to see what has happened in these past few months. I was hoping to find a lab that tests the antibodies down to 0 rather than give a < value.
Do you know if Labcorp tests TGA and TPO down to 0? My previous tests were done at a local hospital that uses Quest Diagnostic.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Sorry, Labcorp uses < > for their antibody results.

Thanks Laurie. That saves me a phone call to Labcorp. I'm not sure there are any other labs companies here, but I will continue searching.
One last thing and I will let you go, I promise! haha
Is it OK to do do the saliva cortisol test on day 21 of my cycle. I keep reading conflicting stuff that says cortisol might actually look better or normal because progesterone is higher at this time.
I just want to make sure I get the most accurate numbers from everything.
Thank you!

If you are just doing saliva cortisol, it doesn't matter...IMHO.
You are welcome, Laurie

This isn't necessarily a hypopit question, but since my bout of the flu, my digestion has been absolutely terrible. My husband and I didn't eat for an entire week because we were so sick. We were practically bedridden.
It's rather embarrassing, but I have been very bloated, very gassy with stomach cramps usually after I eat, but not always. It can just come on whenever.
For nearly 2 months, my husband and I have been on a restricted diet because of some food allergies. He recently found out he is gluten, wheat, milk, almond and egg intolerant. Since I didn't want to bother with cross contamination, I practically eliminated these from my diet too. I still used a tiny bit of half&half in coffee or tea, but that was about it. I cut out all breads and butter just to spare him the frustration of seeing me eat them.
I haven't had a problem with digestion for nearly 6 years when I finally moved out of my parent's house. haha! In fact, my husband and I have always commented on how good mine is....but now not so much.
I started taking betaine HCl, but I don't feel it's really doing anything. Maybe the flu and combination of not eating anything but liquids destroyed my stomach acid?
Do any of you know what could be causing this sudden digestion problem? I have noticed an increase in sweet cravings and I have put on some weight too.
Thanks!

Sorry to read that you were ill. Did you have food poisoning?
Your digestion may be due to low cortisol and/or low thyroid. This of course, may be central in origin given your history of DI. Your labs will be most interesting.
That half and half sometimes contains not so nice ingredients... My husband can't use it. Contains additives. He does better going black.
Sugar cravings usually due to low cortisol. I crave more sugar and chocolate with low cortisol. I crave salt with my low aldosterone. It's all related.

Thank you Laurie! We both had the flu with a terrible fever (102+), nasal congestion, achiness and cough. My mom gave it to us! HAHA The fever made me extremely dehydrated with terrible salt wasting symptoms. At one point, I thought of calling 911 since neither of us could drive. Somehow I pulled through it though, but my BP and HR's were some of the worst I've ever seen from me. Sitting to standing BPs were dropping by 15+ and HR's were increasing by 40+. I had one reading of 83/64 HR 158, so this illness certainly stressed my body, adrenals and thyroid. If the digestion problem may be from low cortisol/thyroid, then it makes sense that it would happen after the flu. I kept the Himalayan salt next to my bed and anytime I got more water, I'd put salt in! It took a while, but it definitely helped me pull through it all.
I use organic valley half&half cream, so there's nothing in it other than cream. Preservatives won't make it into our shopping cart at the store. I am a crazy label checker. :-)
It's hard not giving in to these sweet cravings, so I steal little pieces of my husband's noi sirus 70% dark chocolate from Whole foods. It is the perfect mix of bitter and sweet to eliminate them. Then for the salty cravings, I buy olives and/or pickles...lol
Once again thanks! Hopefully I will have the results to the first round of tests either the end of this week or beginning of next week.

With adrenal insufficiency, GI bugs/flu can push a person into adrenal crisis. You may have headed crisis off by drinking salt water. With low cortisol folks, we have a tendancy to recover slowly from colds, sinus infections, bronchitis IF we are inadequately treated with respect to cortisol. This had been happening with me since a kid. I'd get a cold and it would eventually progress to bronchitis, pneumonia and 6months of non-stop antibiotics. Since starting cortef and stress dosing with even mild illness, I'm able to shake off colds with no progression. No more antibiotics. Most times I don't even catch the cold that the rest of the family is battling. Healthy folks produce more cortisol during times of stress and illness. Low cortisol/adrenal insufficient folks are not able to. Thus the need for stress-dosing. I craved greek salads. Hell, sometimes I'd eat the feta out of the container and polish an entire bottle of olives (juice and all). you are not alone. Laurie
