Hi, I am taking 4.5 Armour and 6mg Medrol. I am 44y and I gave birth to a baby girl 6 mons ago with the help of armour, medrol, DHEA 75mg per day, IVF ICSI and the thyroid forums eg.STTM, RTH, etc. This is the first live birth I have, I had a few miscarriage before. I am thinking about hormon replacement therapy and wondering if I should take a blood test on progesterone on cycle day 26. The result wil be the target for adjusting the amount of progesterone to take while on HR therapy. Cycle day 2 estradiol blood test taken about 1.5 years ago, the result was low. My doctor said it was normal to have day 2 low estradiol although I did not understand why. About 3 months ago, I started to take a beta blocker, metoprolol, and an anti-anxiety drug, lexapro. Both work fine but their side effects are very dry skin and dry eyes . These problems of dryness bothers me a lot especially I have dry eyes to begin with and my eyes now are much drier than before. I am thinking about reducing the dosage. After my c-section, I experienced hyper symtoms for about 2 weeks and I losed amost 20lbs+ 17lbs(right after delivery) totaled 37lbs, needless to say, I was in hell . What I don't understand is that I had hypothyroid for many years, and I thought my thyroid was dead. If so, what is responsible for giving me the hyper symtoms? Thank you, Cat.

Hi there, I am taking 4.5 Armour and 6mg Medrol. I am 44y and I gave birth to a baby girl 6 mons ago with the help of armour, medrol, DHEA 75mg per day, IVF ICSI and the thyroid forums eg.STTM, RTH, etc. This is the first live birth I have, I had a few miscarriage before. 75 mg DHEA is very high. I hope you have now lowered it?I am thinking about hormon replacement therapy and wondering if I should take a blood test on progesterone on cycle day 26. The result wil be the target for adjusting the amount of progesterone to take while on HR therapy. Serum progesterone is to be tested on cd 21, unless you are getting LH and FSH tested, then it is cd 3.
Beta blockers slow down the conversion of T4 to T3, which means you probably aren't utilizing your thyroid meds properly.Cycle day 2 estradiol blood test taken about 1.5 years ago, the result was low. My doctor said it was normal to have day 2 low estradiol although I did not understand why. Yes, it is normal to have low estrogen on day 2 of your cycle.
Changes in thyroid requirements are not unusual during and after pregnancy in those with thyroid conditions. Weight loss can also be associated with low cortisol. I hope this helps
