1/13/09-DIAGNOSIS: Growth Hormone Deficiency
I finally got my MRI of pituitary and brain, with/without contrast-
Maybe someone can help me figure this out? All opinions welcome.
FINDINGS:
The ventricles are midline and of normal size and configuration. The grey white interface appears well defined. There is no evidence of intercranial mass or hemorrhage. No abnormal extra- axial fluid collections are seen. No vascular abnormalities are suggested.
Thin section images through the sella pre and post contrast show no pituitary mass. The overall size of the pituitary and sella are within normal limits.
However, on post contrast images, there is some subtle heterogenous decreased enhancement within the anterior aspect of the pituitary on axial images and in the right anterolateral aspect on coronal images. The appearance is not specific but a small (1-2 mm) pituitary microadenoma can not be excluded.
The exam is otherwise within normal limits. Diffusion imaging suggests no evidence of intracerebral ischemia.
IMPRESSION:
l. Thin section images of the pituitary pre and post contrast show slight heterogenous decreased enhancement such that a small pituitary microadenoma can not be excluded as noted above. No other focal or acute intracranial abnormalities are seen. There is minimal generalized atrophy which is likely age appropriate. This is a little more pronounced in the frontal lobe cortex bilaterally.
I need as many opinions on this report as possible......should I get another MRI? or should this suffice for any tumor diagnosis. It does leave me still wondering...........
THANK YOU
Carol
