If you get to much cortisol from your adrenals overproduction, you can start to experience symptoms of Cushings disease. To much cortisol from synthetics is called Cushing's Syndrome. Symptoms can be anywhere from very slight to very severe. No one has all symptoms. severe fatigue, Upper body obesity Rounded face fat around the neck thinning arms acne thinning skin. Bruises easily, heals poorly. Purplish pink stretch marks may appear on abdomen, thighs, buttocks, arms and breasts High blood sugar Glaucoma and cataracts. Central Serous Retinopathy. High blood pressure particularly during stress. Obesity weak muscles Loss of muscle tone. Reduced immune function; susceptibility to infection and cancer. High cholesterol. High levels of cortisol and its associated hormones are picked up by receptors in the brain and produce increased levels of anxiety, depression and feelings of stress. Damage to the hippocampus, a brain area associated with memory, particularly spatial memory. Osteoporosis. bending, lifting or rising from a chair may lead to backaches, rib and spinal column fractures Stunted growth in children, as is commonly seen in asthmatics treated with cortisol derived medication. Depression. A high proportion of depressed people have high cortisol levels. Regulation of cortisol Women Excessive hair growth on face, neck, chest, abdomen and thighs.
