My sister who had a stim and who we all agree is secondary is now again having a hard time with the doctor. He wants to keep her on 20HC although she's already on 25. Doesn't care that she will feel worse on 20 because he says "that's a lot of steroid". Good grief. Wonder what he thinks of a medrol pack, that's perfectly exceptable.
I really thought he got this whole thing. I brought him the wikipedia article and he said, that made sense but now seems to have forgotten the whole appointment which was some weeks ago.
We gave him the printout of what Peatfield says people make in one day cortisol wise (40-60 in a non stressed day) along with the info from the doctor in Belgium (I forget the name). Apparently he didn't read it although he's usually great about reading things. He is stuck on the fact that people only make 20 of cortisol a day.
I need something scientific. Can you direct to where you found this info to begin with. The info you used to write the wikipedia article.
Every stinkin time you think you finally found a doctor they back peddle. I could scream.
Much appreciated.

There is no proof of how much cortisol the body makes in a day. I tend to go with 25 -35 mg, but no one knows what it really is. I guess you might want to show him my article again. Maybe highlight it.
You're welcome, Chris

Thanks Chris.
I was actually asking about any literature for diagnosing secondaries. Anything that says point blank that if the Stim doubles from a low value that you have a pituitary problem.

Nothing that I've seen and because the vast majority of doctors don't know how to interpret for secondary. THAT is the main reason why I wrote it.

Got it. But......your theory had to come from somewhere. I know you've seen thousands of Stim tests but how did you come to the conclusion that doubling from a low value makes this a pituitary issue?

My conclusions from looking at a lot of cortisol stim/acth plasma tests. I estimate I've seen about 2000 stims.
