Hi, I have been thinking about this. Does taking HC shut down all pit. hormones or just ACTH (at doses more than 25mgs) ? Could my hgh still be fine? or are they from the same place in the pit. Thanks as always, Christine

Hi, I have been thinking about this. Does taking HC shut down all pit. hormones or just ACTH (at doses more than 25mgs)? Could my hgh still be fine? or are they from the same place in the pit. Thanks as always, Christine Hi Christine, What makes you think doses over 25mg HC shuts down ACTH? There are various estimates as to how much Cortisol a body 'at rest' produces daily. They vary from 40-80 mg Cortisol daily and up to 200mg under stress. Certainly HC will PARTLY suppress ACTH but if PRIMARY AI then ACTH wasnt stimulating enough Cortisol anyway (as Adrenals cant produce) and if SECONDARY AI then ACTH was low anyway. Obviously for Secondaries taking ACTH would be better however it is injection only & far too expensive at present. Taking HC will partially suppress those Hormones affected by ACTH. Like DHEA, Testosterone maybe Aldosterone. It doesnt affect those things NOT stimulated by ACTH like GH. In fact treating & optimising low Cortisol, Sex Hormones, Thyroid may increase low GH . This is why HGH treatment should be delayed until all those are treated & GH retested to see if still a need.

Hi Lee, glad to see you back. Do doctor's treat with ACTH? Is it common? I wonder what the difference would be?

Besides what Lee said, ACTH is hard to regulate and has to be monitored constantly in a hospital. Is rarely done even in a hospital. I've not heard of anyone being treated with ACTH. I know the amount of ACTH given in the stim costs about $90 which a lot is given, so if a patient could give it to themself, it wouldn't cost more than a few bucks a day at most I would think. I doubt secondaries will ever be able to treat this way unfortunately.

Thanks Lee and Chris for giving me the info on what ACTH does and how it works. Each answer is another piece of the puzzle. Lee I don't know if you saw my thread on your protocol, I posted it a few days ago. Thank you. Christine
