Hi Chris,
Andrew and I will be traveling to PA next month. I've been copying labs and radiology reports for the new doc.
He agrees that I have an underfunctioning pituitary based on history, labs and symptoms. He also said that my GH is low ( 0.9 range 0-6) after replacing thyroid and cortisol.
I was re-reading my Pit MRI from two years ago. It was done with and without contrast. It doesn't sound right to me despite no obvious adenomas/microadenomas....
" Findings: The pit glad has a crescentic configuration and is based along the floor of the sella. Pit tissue demonstrates homogeneous enhancement without discrete masses. The superior contour of the pit gland is concave. No significant deviation of the pit stalk. Suprasellar and parasellar structures are unremarkable. No pit mass demonstrated. "
Do you think the concave appearance may be due to the head injury when I was 5. I was hit over the head with a coal shovel and lost consciousness? No significant deviation. Does that mean that there is even slight deviation? I might request a copy of actual MRI...
Thanks again, Laurie

I can't say for sure in your case, maybe. All I can really tell you is I've seen many peoples MRI reports over the years and those that think a head injury caused their hypopit tend to have normal MRI's.
You're welcome, Chris

Returned from PA doc early this morning. Showed the results of my MRI and he was quick to point out that the crescent shape to my pituitary was compression (likely due to the head injury). He also mentioned empty sella but by that point, I was blown away....
