Well, you were right (not that I doubted you :-) She said my ACTH was fine, if there was something wrong it would be at 1. I argued with here about my cortisol levels and the fact that I have all the symptoms, she just smiled and nodded. After throwing a fit about my periods not being normal she agreed to test all of my androgens. Then I went into the being dizzy when I stand up, move my head walk fast etc. and tried to get in the low blood sugar symptoms that go nuts some days and don't go away with protein or sugar but I think she was back to ignoring me at that point. So I got some more labwork out of her but I think that is it. So now my next question is where do I go from here? There is only one endo that is on the preffered list in MN and was told she isn't that great but does perscribe armour. So I was wondering if there was a preferred doctor in SD? I have family all over the state so I could get pretty much anywere easily. Sioux Falls or Rapd City would be best though. I suppose my other option is La Cross WI or Des Moines IA if there are any there I have family those places also. There is someone out there that will treat me right?

Got a call back from the endo, she said all my androgen levels were "normal" right in the middle she said. So she is sending me to reproductive endo. What are they going to do that is different? Nothing I am sure! She had no answers for me for the dizziness, or the blood sugar symptoms! I called to get the appointment and the nurse was so sympathetic, why are the nurses always better at dealing with you than doctors!

Sorry to read that. Still trying to come up with a "decent" doc recommendation... Invite the nurse to come and read up on hormones. She might be able to educate the doc. ;D Laurie

Finally got my androgen labs back. Here they are -
Testosterone, Total, S (reference range: 8-60ng/dL) my level was 25 Testosterone, Bioavailabl (reference range: .8-10ng/dL) my level was 2.8
Androstenedione, S (reference range: 30-200 ng/dl) my level was 135 Dehydroepiandrosterone (reference: D<13 ng/dL) my level was 3.1 DHEA Sulfate (S) (reference range 31-228 ug/dL) my level was 127
Other than that I saw my GP today for a follow up after endo, he didn't want me to go to reproductive endo, thought it would just me more "stress" on me than I needed. Finally something we agree on. My husband came with and asked what he would do if he came in and said he was getting dizzy/lightheaded when he stood up and our doctor rattled off all these things. When he was finished my hubby asked why that wasn't getting done with me. Well, he said, she has a history of other things happening. At least it proved my point to my husband that things were getting written off as side effects of the "stress" I am under about dealing with it all. I then tried to raise the agrument about my body being able to handle the stress, and maybe that was the real problem. Unfortunately I have lost that battle. It was going to get a second opinion if I agreed to "talk therapy" with a phscylogist. So I get to start "talk therapy" next week. I wasn't about to tell him that I get "type therapy" at an online hormone support group. He most likely would have admitted me :-) Let me know what you think about my levels above!
Thanks so much!

I'm glad your husband went with you to prove a point to the doc and to see himself what is going on. Is it just me or are women treated more like hypochondriacs than men are??? I know men get treated that way sometimes too, but I think women cop it more I hope you find a good doc soon

I find the younger a person is the less serious doctors take you. Like young people can't be sick or something. This one woman I met at my doc's office, said her nephew had cancer at age 25 and it was overlooked because of his age! This same thing happened to my sister too.
I totally agree with you that docs don't take us women seriously at all. Perhaps it's because men are usually reluctant to go to the docs, so when they go in, the doc assumes it must be pretty bad.
Unfortunately a lot of women are hypochondriacs. I used to work with some that would take their kids to see the doc for literally EVERYTHING. Those kids are always the sickest too because they are put on antibiotics constantly and getting way too many vaccines IMO.

it's such a shame that it means that when the kids are really sick but nothing shows up, the parents get labelled as wackos. my brother had chronic fatigue in the late 80s and some docs wanted to refer my parents and brother to psychiatrists. luckily a good doc said "don't let them get their hands on him" ....12 docs later they found the one who diagnosed him and helped him recover.

I totally agree!!! My Doctor gave me this whole song and dance about being young and healthy and my body just needs to "bounce back" Easy for him to say he hasn't been sick for a whole year!! I also just experienced the "wacko" mom senario with my son. I kept taking him in becuase he wasn't sleeping at night. He had tubes put in his ears about a year and half ago and they were still in. I kept telling the doctors that I thought his ears were bothering him. He was always digging in them, and the only time he has ever woken up at night is becuase he had an ear infection. They kept telling me he was fine and giving me a lecture about sleep habits, and how I shouldn't crawl in bed with him at night and I should let him sleep with us blah blah blah. Finally we got sent over to ENT and sure enough, the hearing test showed he had fluid behind his ears again and couldn't hear low sounds that were in speech range!! I was so mad and then proud of myself that I stuck to my instincts. Now if I could just have that moment with my issues, that would be great!
Laurie, if you get a chance can you peek at my androgen labs. Of course I was told there are in normal range. I just don't know what else would be making my pubic hair fall out.
Thanks!
