Actually I was wondering about the IGF-BP3 - this looks relatively high. How does that affect things. Does it work in a similar way to SHBG, meaning that hormones like testo become unavailable?

I think that your mom has had Hashi's for DECADES!! Grandma had symptoms since she was 20's. She lived to be 62. She was "caught "discussing her heavy menstrual periods/clots with a neighbor. She also had a need for daily naps. She was really thin after first baby, but then afterward could not lose weight. Had no appetite and ate very little. Dry skin, thin hair...
Is your mom still having low cortisol sx? How much HC is she on? Her FT3 is higher in range than FT4 and it suggests possible pooling.

Hi Laurie, She's on 35mg HC. She's definitely still having low cortisol symptoms - shaky hands, very anxious in the mornings, wakes up at 3am and can't go back to sleep. I am thinking she may need to switch to prednisolone. She takes 5mg HC at bedtime but I'm thinking that because it wears off pretty fast it causes the 3am wakeups (which she had before HC anyway) and the anxiety in the mornings (which she's has before but says is getting worse). We were going to ask the doctor for a trial of pred but as we had so many other things to get through, we didn't. I do have some of my own and might email the doctor to get her thoughts on it (as if we do switch over, Mum will need the doc to prescribe this further down the track). By the way, I really am so grateful for the hard work you and the mods here and on RTH do. The knowledge and experience that is shared is just inspiring (without wanting to get all weepy!) cheerio Allison

Allison,
You are most welcome! Happy to give back after others had helped me.
