I don't know if mine is cyclical or not but I did put together a photo album for the Endo. Starting when I was 28 to present and you can sure see the cushings developing. The barrel stomach, the buffalo hump, the moon face, and the water retention is very noticeable. I went from 128 pounds to 190 pounds and I worked out with a personal trainer 3 times a week. I could dead lift with my arms 215 pounds and 195 with my legs. I am toned but big. I had been told by so many Drs to get my a$$ off the sofa and stop eating and when I said I was working out and dieting they wouldn't believe me. Even my trainer thought I was overeating but I eat lots of protein every 3 hours, no bread or rice or pasta, very little fruit and as many veggies as I can stand. And all organic. It is so frustrating.
I finally had one Dr do a water/fat ratio ultrasound on me and he said he's never seen anybody with so much fluid retention. I have very little fat and lots of fluid. He tried fluid pills on me but they did nothing.
According to this endo he can't do the MRI on Pit or adrenals until after the initial blood and urine tests. I live in Canada and there is a protocol Dr's must follow for testing. My neurosurgeon said I must have the MRI on my pit but endo said he'll get to it after first round of testing. I've been reading about the PSS and I really don't want that. I agree with you.
I stopped taking Iron 6 weeks before testing. Before testing I only took iron maybe 4 times. Val said my ferritin was good so I stopped taking it altogether.
My last calcium test was Jan/09 and it was 2.45 range 2.10-2.60
My parathyroid Hormone was 5.0 range 1.3 - 6.8
I've never had my growth hormone tested. Thanks for the tip Laurie, I'll call the endo and see if he will include growth hormone in my 24 hour urine cortisol test I have to do next week,
