Hi Lee, Thanks so much for your help. I may have trouble getting the tests you mention, as our doctors over here will not test unless THEY think you have a problem. I am already at war with my doc, because I won't do as I'm told !! (and that means to take Thyroxine). The other thing I'm worried about is my blood pressure, which runs about 164/99 when off meds!! Do I HAVE to come off blood pressure meds to take Florinef!! Anyway, I appreciate all your help you can give. Best wishes jenny. High BP may well be related to Aldo & Renin Sodium/Potassium issues anyway. Almost ALL BP meds interfere with electrolytes Aldo & Renin levels. Were all these tested BEFORE BP meds started to see if they were the cause of your high BP? Did you have a 24 hour BP monitoring before BP Meds rxed? Was heart function tested? Who prescribed GP or Cardiologist? You will never get accurate results for electrolytes while on a BP med. Have you researched your BP med online? Which one are you on? I hope its not a Betablocker!!!!! Were you planning to get Florinef & RX potassium yourself?

Hi Lee, Thanks for your reply. Nothing was tested for high BP, that's not the way they do it over here, they just give you the tabs and you have to get on with it. I honestly thought my high BP was related to my thyroid still being undermedicated, it wasn't until I stumbled across STTM, that I'd even heard of aldosterone, and thought this is the missing link to my illness! I have never had a heart function test, that I'm aware of! I know my BP med is an angiotensin receptor blocker, and I should come off it but, I am really freaked by high BP!! My sodium and potassium are exactly the same numbers they were 9 years ago when I had them tested before!! Yes I am planning to do florinef and RX potassium myself with a little help from my private doc, although I'm not sure he understand the whole process! I'ts just that I refuse to remain ill, just because I can't get the support that's needed. And I'm not alone, a lot of UK patients have to go it alone!!!!!!!!!!! I appreciate all your help. Best wishes Jenny.

Hi Jenny,
Yes I am well aware of the UK situation!!!
Glad you at least have the private Doc to give you some support. Would this Doc at least give you rx'es for Florinef & Potassium?
Do go cautiously with making adjustments to BP meds. If you decide to go off them do it slowly as recommended by Doc.
Do you have a home BP monitor (not the cuff kind)? If not strongly recommend you get one. Will help enormously to have that.
If you tel me which med you are on I can look it up myself see what the sides are for it?
There are plenty of people who have managed to get off their BP meds & plenty who have had high BP who have fixed that by treating Aldo related issues. I am one myself.

Hi Lee, Thanks for your reply. I only have a cuff type BP monitor, but I will get the arm one. Unfortunately the private doctor no longer works as a doctor, but a nutruionist, as he has been hunted down by the GMC and decided to give up working as a doctor, but to help people like myself without the hassle!! Quite a lot of us use him, because he travels up and down the country holding clinics. Although he is a very genuine, kind person, I'm not sure he understands how to use Florinef, because he told me he stopped recommending Florinef, because of the headaches people were experiencing!! That's why I decided to see if I could learn enough to help myself! Anyway, I do have some Florinef already and have found a source of slow-k off the internet, so I'm almost ready to go, barring the problem with my BP.
The BP med I am taking is called Olmetec (olmersartan). Thanks for your continuing support. Best wishes Jenny.

Hi Lee , I would love to be able to lower my BP, How's it done? Could I take a diferent BP med while I am trying Florinef? (probably not). Best wishes Jenny.
