Yet another possibility is that once on Cortisol HRT that you become MORE Hypothyroid due to using the Thyroid Hormones you do have up hence lower levels of FT4 & FT3. Possibly you needed to do Thyroid meds as well? Have you had Thyroid Frees & Antibodies tested? Are you on Thyroid Meds?
Lee, I think this is it! I was handling some T3 the other day (getting my hormone supps out of storage) and I got major, major improvement in my symptoms. I didn't even *take* T3. All I did was touch it (I broke up a couple of tablets with my fingers), and apparently that was enough to give me a dose! Its more than 48 hours later and I can still feel the effects. I can't remember the last time I felt this good.
I believe I am hypopituitary (leading to hypoadrenal and hypothyroid symptoms).
As you can imagine I am itching to treat because the improvement in symptoms is incredible. I have the meds to hand. I've bought a thermometer to keep track of temps. The only thing stopping me from proceeding is testing. I need some major advice here.
I've just done a 24 hour saliva cortisol test along with complete thyroid labs. What other tests must I do before starting treatment? I'm guessing you are going to say the ACTH Stim. Anything else?
What about the Aldosterone, renin, Sod & Pot ?
And how about the sex hormones (Est. Free test, SHBG, DHEAS, LH & FH)?
Is it necessary to sort all these out *before* I start thyroid & glucocorticoids, or can I start meds first, then sort out Aldost etc and the sex hormones later?
Many thanks,
garcia.
