Hi, I hope you can help! I'm supping himalayan salt 2 tsp at the moment, and my face has really blown up with water retention, and I have a really nasty sinus headache which I think has been brought on by the salt.
I had these tests done just before xmas 2008.
Sodium 141 (135-145) Pot 4.4 (3.5-4.5)
I have all the symptoms of salt wasting, ie, fail flashlight test, salt craving, blood pressure dropping between 10-30 points from sitting to standing, light sensitivity.
I live in the UK and can not get the aldosterone test done, so I have to go by symptoms alone.
My question is : if I do start to take Florinef will I still have a bloated face? And will it affect my sinuses the way the salt has, ie: nasty headaches, if salt does this to me won't Florinef be worse?
So many questions, sorry!!
Also should I be taking potassium ? I am getting a little amount in my multi's, which is why my test doesn't look too bad!
Thanks for any help you can give me as I feel like giving up!!
Best wishes Jenny.

Try taking 1 tsp (if you are taking 2 tsp at once spread them out). Most people do alright with florinef, but some people can't make it work for them. Most people don't have problems with it. I don't get into potassium because it is hard to dose, but you try it if your potassium falls while on florinef.
Hang in there, Chris

Hi, I've just received my Florinef in the post, but I am a bit worried about my blood pressure. My last test was 148/99. I stopped my blood pressure med because it was an ARB. I've started to get sinus/migraine headaches and I am concerned that the Florinef will increase my blood pressure!!!
Can anyone give me any assurances! Thanks in advance, Jenny.

Hi Jenny, From what I remember florinef has actually lowered bp for some while for me it caused it to raise (but my bp was appallingly low prior to florinef -in the 90's and 80's systollic). If you do go ahead and trial the florinef then start with 1/4 tab for 7 to 10 days and take your blood pressure regularly. If you haven't got a bp monitor it would be a good idea to get one so you can monitor the effects.I'm in the uk and couldn't get aldosterone tested either so had to go on symptoms.Florinef has made such a difference to me IMHO it's worth a try.Good luck, Karen

Hi Karen, Thanks for that! Did it give you headaches to start with? Because thats what I'm frightened of. Thanks in advance Jenny. I honestly can't remember getting headaches when I first started it.I can remember feeling that something was changing in my head (difficult to describe) and getting occassional popping in my ears (like when you're on a plane) as it changes the fluid balance and your body needs to adjust to that but definitely not bad headaches. Hi, Why would I be getting headaches from salt supping, I'm down to 1tsp a day now and I'm still getting migraine headaches every other day. I wondered if I had pushed my potassium down? Any thoughts? Jenny South
