Thanks Laurie, again for your insight. I was looking at my LH/FSH level in June and that was pretty low but in December it seems to have perked up a bit. The test in June was taken on the 2nd day of my cycle and the December one on the 5th day. My monthly cycle has gone completely to pot..it is regular mostly but then lasts for 14 days!! Its like doing shift work lol! 14 days on 14 days off! Is this typical of pit probs?? Thanks Tricia

My LH/FSH --much lower than yours (1 and less) and I am 42. I thought that mine should be increasing with age. I was thinking that LH/FSH should be rock bottom if my sex hormones were top of ranges. But doc said that the LH/FSH feedback with sex hormones isn't like ACTH and Cortisol.
It might be that treating cortisol and thyroid deficiencies may result in better regulation of menstrual cycle.

Thanks Laurie I hope that they take this seriously and get it sorted soon. I am going to see my GP this afternoon and have decided that I am going to go private. I feel like I am losing my mind and at 36 I should be enjoying my life and my children not wishing for the day to be over so I get back into bed and (not) sleep! Have you got any comments on the other labs? I was a bit concerned that my creatinine level has raised and my GFR has lowered in 6 months...is this significant? Thank you, talking to you makes me feel that I am not a hypochondriac Tricia

HI All Just an update on my Gp visit yesterday:- Memory problems & word finding difficulties - need to see a neurologist, she said it was a worrying symptom as it is new, started just before Christmas. Not sleeping and taking nytol - she said what a dilemma! 14 day long periods - she said this was not right! Cold all the time - she said this was also not right She said that she needed to read my notes (novel idea) and research into empty sella syndrome and then see me again on Thursday (tomorrow). She thinks that it is hormone related although all of my blood tests including those in June have come back normal!!! We will see what tomorrow brings. Thanks Tricia

Your memory issues can be directly related to low thyroid hormone, esp FT3. You really need to have Free T3, Free T4,TSH all at one time. Chris told you this too. Low FT3 resulted in bad memory issues with me. I couldn't place names to faces. Your sleep deprivation isn't helping. This can be low cortisol and low thyroid related. I had terrible insomnia prior. Your low cortisol is masking your low thyroid too. Replace needed cortisol and expect your free thyroid hormones to TANK!! Low Vitamin B12 can absolutely result in short term memory deficits. My MIL has worsening memory. Neuro checked vitamin b12 and folate levels. He checked her TSH and it's too high, IMHO. I think she needs thyroid hormone. But who am I, just an inlaw. Feeling cold can be low thyroid, low ferritin and/or low cortisol. Or combo of all. In summary, tomorrow when you see your doc: Insist on TSH,FReeT3, Free T4, B12, folate, and ferritin levels(not serum iron, not Hemoglobin/hematocrit). Optimal ferritin is 70-80 despite "normal ranges". NORMAL AND OPTIMAL AND NOT EQUAL!!! This applies to EVERYTHING. Best wishes, Laurie

Ok so have just got back from the GP and what a waste of time that was! Memory and word-finding issues - she has spoken to the neuro and he says it is nothing hormonal or anything to do with empty sella, not side-effects from topirimate (even though memory probs listed on info inside box!) - therefore memory problems caused by stress. She refuses to budge on the hormone thing complete about turn from Tuesday- everything is normal so no more testing! Not hypothyroid, cortisol is fine and not anaemic because blood says so She gave me memory test ie what is date, who is queen, where do you live...not really the problems i am having. She also gave me a depression test where I had to answer yes to most answers because they related to tiredness and lethargy! So I am moderately depressed! have been depressed in past I admit post natal and when I was in my late teens but not now and surely if i've been depressed in the past surely I would know better than anyone if I was again! Sleep - I asked her to prescribe melatonin and she said she would think about it and do some research...so thats probably a no! Why is everything so difficult?

Hi All
Just a quick update.
Went to see an endo privately on Saturday. He took down my history, examined me and looked at my MRi films. he said that he thinks he can see a cyst and my empty sella is caused by a tumour that 'popped'. He thinks I may be growth hormone deficient and maybe cortisol deficient.
Next step is Insulin Stress Test. Still in a bit of shock but at least it wasn't stress and depression!
Bb x ;D Thanks for all of your help
