Hi Lee,
First I would like to apologize for the delay in responding. I have been pretty busy so I have time now since today is Saturday.
I did call the endo that tested me and confirmed she did not test ACTH Serum. I think I will just bug this new doc to test me for the other pituitary hormones. At least he knows I'm sick from my baseline Cortisol results.
I never saw any results for Sex Hormones & Androgens (including LH & FSH) apart from a DHEA which was certainly far from optimal
You're correct in that I have not previously posted my Sex Hormones. The reason is because I had the test done in December of 2007 and thought it was too old. I would also like to note this test was done before I started on Armour and HC or Medrol. Here are my numbers:
DHEA-Sulfate 165 (19-231)
Testosterone Total and Free 17 (2-45)
FSH Serum 20.5 (partial Hysterectomy)
Not sure what phase that would be
Prolactin 5.4 (2.7-26.7)
We also usually recommend getting GH, IGF-1 (plus IGFBP-3), GH, Prolactin done for Secondaries. Have you done these at all?
No, I haven't Lee. I've asked two of my doctors and so far no go, but I'll keep trying. I have an appt. with endo in the beginning of February and should have new blood results with some but not all the ones I should have.
I saw you posted about B12 but what about other things like VitD, Ferritin, RBC Folate wre those tested & optimised?
My B12 is optimal, Ferritin was tested awhile ago and was a little high, and I am supposed to take lots of Folic Acid for my blood clotting condition which I do. As for Vit D, that is one of the results I will get soon from that blood test I just took.
You are on 6mg Medrol, 1 tab Florinef, Armour 4 1/2 grains, Sea Salt 1-2 teasp is that right? Are you doing good supps & minerals too. Your Potassium was very low likely you need RX Potassium to optimise there especially with Florinef. Have you retested since starting Florinef? How the BP now? No longer high BP? Rising on standing OK?
I am currently on 6 mg Medrol. I did lower it by two grains recently if you remember but learned that I really do need the 6 mg. I am now up to 5 1/2 gr Armour and am thinking of raising another 1/2 grain bc of my temps. I do have malabsorbtion problems. I do take all my vitamins and minerals daily and have done lots of research regarding them. As for the Florinef, I did stop it for about 2 weeks recently and the edema came back along with the dehydration. I also started to get hot flashes by the minute all day and night. It went away the day I restarted the Florinef.
Funny thing you know but 3 days after stopping the Florinef, I got a blood clot near my ankle. Luckily it was in a superficial and not a deep vein. I thought it was peculiar I got it so quickly after I stopped the Florinef and salt. So now I am doing 1/2 tablet with 1/2 tsp sea salt twice a day. Before I was taking the whole 0.5 mg tablet in the am along with 1 tsp sea salt.
Before I stopped the Florinef recently, I was having pretty severe leg cramping. When I stopped, it went away and hasn't come back since. I was not taking Potassium supplements at the time I was cramping but am now. Is 99 mg enough? I really feel optimizing my Florinef, Salt and Potassium will help me to feel better. Again, will get these results in upcoming blood test. It should be interesting too because I was off the Florinef and salt before and during the blood draw.
I have not been checking my blood pressure in any way. I need to get on that.
It's been a long, hard road but I feel 90% better today than I've felt in years. I know for sure if it weren't for your help and Chris and others I wouldn't be here today feeling so good. I have my life back. So, thank you all from the bottom of my heart! Truly and sincerely!
My Free T3 and 4 results should be interesting this time since I have been on the 6 mg Medrol. I can't wait. I will post those results as soon as they come in. Thank you Lee, for everything. I mean, you even went out of your way to find my old posts. What generosity.
Peace and love always dear Angel,
Lucy
